When Benjamin Franklin had energy he said, 'Energy and persistence alter all things'.
Now, maybe it's this unrelenting Canadian winter, or perhaps I'm just getting....what's it called
again...ehm.....that state you get to where the things you use to be able to do and enjoy, were doable and enjoyable, and words didn't slip ones mind like a deer on ice - OLDER! That's it.
Now what was I saying????
Right. Of course, I didn't say it...Ben did. But he did so eloquently didn't he??
Without energy no amount of talent, genius, generosity, love, interest, understanding or anything would ever come into our shared consciousness, or ever get to be of any use to anyone, unless or until that individual had the energy to share, impart, create or pass-on such, in some way.
whew - that was exhausting just saying all that.
I don't know where you're living....but there is a North American element....an energy thing....that is beginning to work against itself.
I'm not sure if it's because we're all so spent and exhausted spending and exhausting our hard earned money chasing after the ever elusive *things* we are convinced (by con artists) we need in order to feel better.
Now....why is it we need to feel better? Oh riiight, we're tired from all our unnecessary nonsensical running around.
Were we not happy before? At some point ? Ever?!? Yep. We were.
Thus we are told to feel bad.....then coincidentally, & very timely, offered garbage we're told will make us feel and look good.
So on and on it goes...that's us on the dizzying, dilapidated North American midway Ferris wheel.
We're now made to feel utterly exhausted running around in the endless loop in a mind-boring routine that excavates all individual thought, and ultimately undermines the quality of our lives to the nth degree.
Mind you...I could be wrong.
Other parts of the world, Scotland for example, has somehow managed to retain a healthier balance to their work lives and days, like somehow cramming their allotted 8 weeks in off a year..?!...I for one, haven't had a week off since I went to Scotland in 2004.
ok, it is possible I may be projecting my depleted energy here...while I still have enough to get the message out.
If I had the energy, I'd book myself a holiday. But I don't have the energy to think, imagine, plan, pack and go.
What an anti-humane energy depleting society we have allowed to be. Where, in the North America I regrettably know, taking some time off, one is not only made to feel guilty or even more awful than not going anywhere....to being crapped upon pre-departure and upon return - thereby nullifying the whole purpose in the first place.
This has been my experience. It's is surreal. It is silly. It is unhealthy. It is unacceptable. But it is very real.
It didn't occur to me when I read Alice In Wonderland - when we were being told to: Go until we come to the end then stop. That's the way things are structured !*%$# And this is how we have to live and respond to.
Jeezie Creezie!
What a disturbing lesson. As were the majority of nursery rhymes disturbing. But this is how and when the conditioning commences. This is what we are teaching young people who grow up to become exhausted older people.
Another thing that is dusturbing is seeing how not one child / human being can apparently exist without possessing (having been marketed to) a nap sack. Keep your sack full of stuff we don't even need, but cart it around with us everywhere we go.
And why is no one re-examining their lives and lifestyle again? Oh riiiigh to "fit in".
Give me a nap. I've had enough just watching everyone's exhausting unexamined running around they do.
I'll speak for those who are too tired to: We want our energy back! Let's put LIFE back into our lives shall we?!
What is the point of being persistently marketed to, and sold everything we would never have logically thought we ever needed....
if we don't even have the energy to buy into it anymore?
((p'oh))
I'm spent.

Democrazy: 21 Gun Salute
James Russell Lowell said; 'Democracy gives every man the right to be his own oppressor'.
Now....call me crazy for agreeing with that general statement but....
Why do we inflict such upon ourselves and everyone else?
What crazy notions compel us to think so lowly of, and for ourselves?
What strange and weird messages have we absorbed unwittingly to do so?
How have we been made to feel and believe this faeces?
Who's message was this and why was it ever perceived necessary?
Was it just control and fear mongering for sheer ill will, entertainment & sport?
Was there any concept the insidious matter would last so many centuries and generations?
How could anyone even begin to sell such deceit to a majority, that claims it's for a majority, without being part of that majority?
When exactly did we go mad?
What are we actively doing, to ensure there is more than 1 party/power with many faces?
What could we live, know, and come to actually flourish, thrive and advance in instead?
What will it take to derail this train we're on?
When will the majority ever actually have a say and be heard, and respected, and adhered to?
Why do we allow butchery of our language? Democracy has never known by anyone. Ever.
Why do we continue to allow brute & root evil to continue to bully it's way?
Are we really so happy and blissfully content and perfectly preoccupied to think, feel and believe everything is fine the way it is?
Who's prescribing this stuff to prevent real thought?!
Precisely how and when was this mastery mass lobotomy been adequately anaesthetised & achieved?
If you're too afraid to look into the future now...what makes you think you'll be able to stomach experiencing & witnessing it first hand?
How highly have we, historically, respected the ostrich's position?

Something Old Will Be New Again
When we don't know, or remember, our history - we become staggeringly adept in only reinventing (or inventing? who remembers??) the same triangular wheel over and over.
ow ow ow ow ow
We even lose the logic to round the corners off.
That's how quick we are to settle and accept things as 'good enough', despite the reality they aren't even functional.
Not that things were good enough, or functional in the good old days either.
But if there's one significant difference between them thar good old days, and these here and now-a-days is:
Genuine creative innovative original thought.
Who does that anymore?
There was a time when thoughts, attempts, inventions and efforts were being made from a cross section of people and disciplines. There was less control of people and more avenues to explore of course, and that likely played a key role.
Today we are told we have more avenues than ever before. Yet we don't really have the bona fide freedom to truly explore things or truths anymore.
What we appear to have is a hall of mirrors reflecting a depth that isn't there, so as to distract the majority from remembering what they might have been thinking about or looking for, and get caught up in looking at other distorted selves, yet never seeing ourselves in the same wonky frame.
Our shrunken memory works against us - to some larger insidious ideology - perfectly.
Who's to blame?
We all are.
We're not helping ourselves by agreeing to remain unthinkingly distracted - rendering ourselves ignorant.
While we are encouraged, bought and sold & heavily marketed to not help ourselves by ever stopping to think.
I am however wanting to remind people that people used to be allowed to persue their freedom of thought and expression and had real choice....'k that sounds a wee bitty too american, but it's that empirical mentality that is stifling & dictating to the rest of the world their typical amercian unrelenting load of crap.
Let this simply be a wee reminder that the answers we don't even realise we need and seek, reside in our past.
Begin by unearthing and reading those who went before us, who took the time to write and record their observations, thoughts and notions.
Learn what and why they felt compelled to impart.
And then learn for yourself what the next step ought to be.
Then take that step.
Cause it's just us chickens.
It's up to you.
No one else.
Once you know that....know there's hope.
The ideas of the past, although half destroyed, being still very powerful, and the ideas which are to replace them being still in process of formation, the modern age represents a period of transition and anarchy.

a la Carte Blanche
Wise men lack an income,
Prophets do not have riches,
The learned lack wealth,
And time and chance overtake them all
Kohleth
Our purported 'True North Strong and Free' ((cough)) ((cough)) is officially non compos mentis.
We've gone loopdy-loop. Topsy turvey. Completely stark raving mad
(without having raved about anything...we're too damn polite to rant & rave)
The amendment of Bill C-10 has already been passed in the House of Commons. And not a peep. This will enable our already anal water tight Government to not release funding for any Film or TV show that it, in all's our Governments worthless glory, could deem offensive. ?!?!
.....if you thought Canadian made media was bad before*+;...
You ain't gonna see anything ever again!
THAT. Is offensive.
Welcome to the Dark Ages! Feel around for a seat if you can find one, there isn't enough for all of us of course, that's not the way Canada has ever planned for or operated....sorry about the shoddy lighting, but we're Canadian - mustn't grumble....just accept it and continue thinking your non-thoughts and assume you can't do a thing about it, a great big collective shrug of our overburdened, overworked shoulders and heave a sigh while we say goodbye to all things pertaining to illumination, freedom of speech, Democracy, Art, Humanity, Documentary, Education, History, and actuality, or any independent spirit we might have had. Bye bye. Gone. ah well...it wasn't as if we were really using it. It was such a quiet funeral....no one showed up....they might not have seen the fine print in self coloured ink as the page in the obituaries in the Easter Island Times newspaper.
And that, is how we let our pathetically inept, unqualified, tasteless and uberly-anal-judgemental Government - govern us. Because not only have we proven we trust them more than hoodlum artists, but that we can't distinguish anything for ourselves. ...the invention of earbuds and cell phones are to keep our melted brain from seeping out*+;...
Carte Blanche power is a corrupt thing.
The second part to this post is, I feel, related. An observational, gleaned this evening: The youth of our streets.
Is it just my imagination that perceives there to be an direct correlation of young people on the streets who look, sound, think and behave...........creatively?
Is it a coincidence society has clearly shown creative individuals, and thinkers there is 'no place' for anyone who speaks or lashes out, or decides-for-themselves-how-they-wish-to-look/live/act/think/be?
Coincidence? I think not.
...but then I'd be thinking and speaking out against the clenched-butted, conservative, and undoubtedly concocted by constricting unevolved-christian-walk-on-water-tight-minded-mentalities of people who fear everything their gandpappy's never saw (because, of course, everything in their grandpapay's day was entirely cloistered, but do NOT forget, oh it all existed in ever age and era back then, ad nauseum, just not always displayed as honestly as perhaps today - and how dare anyone be honest!?!).
If all a majority means is; all the 'uncreative-one's' are on the same side. That doesn't mean you have to join them.
Our unconscionable treatment and ostracising of anyone who has the undying audacity to be who they are....to say what they are here to impart....to the make films they feel we need to see and think about..to be unique, is unforgivable. It's denying life.
I bet those hyper super duper conservative are pro life-people.....yet, they are denying those who are now living?!
We need precisely those very unique individuals to remind us how far off the mark we are getting (and we are way off)
We need art. We need expression. We need different. We need our thoughts and minds stimulated. We need real.
We need honest. We need authentic. We need freedom. We need to be encouraged. We need these gifted souls to be respected, supported, kept healthy, off the street, fed, housed, and kept alive. We need to acknowledge this side of us - particularly by those who don't possess a similar soul. Those corrupt in power need to step aside and leave the rest of everything they don't understand - alone.
Any message, or society, that rejects or strives to suppress a unique and creative individual is a force that needs to experience precisely that which they seek to inflict upon the more sensitive, creative, honest and now made more vulnerable by being on the streets.
The powers that be need to be similarly silenced and "disenfranchised" removed from office, their house, their next meal.
Our politicians need to know what it means to be on the receiving end of a hand out...
....and have no one help them...
....and all because we just can't understand how they could want to be the way they want to be.
huh imagine that.

On Human Bondage With Books
If I have one teeny tiny minuscule little fetish - it's books.
I love books. I luuuuuuuuuuvvvvvv allllllllllllllllllllll my books.
Truth be told, life would hardly have been liveable without them.
I was asked early on, if I had "ever read any Somerset Maugham?"
At the time, I had not.
So I found me some Maugham. And loved Maugham's compelling storytelling, and glimpses into the mannerisms of days of old. My bond with all things printed and bound was galvanized.
At no point was any of my reading work, or even escapism. It was pure, unadulterated desire and interest to know the natural growth and progression of the evolutionary literary history.
To hold in my hand, and know first hand, the why's and wherefores all these books we've always heard about are Literature, or coined as Classics. I needed to be able to see if I could gauge the authenticity, for my own self, each claim, instead of being told the why by some unknown source.
Why mention my book fetish?
Because I'm not a movie person.
But I just saw - for the first time ever (in 1960's Deluxe colour) Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
A movie set in our bleak future. Where firemen burn books. (not far fetched as not many firemen actually read books)
Total movie crammed into a gist: It was a 1966 Ray Bradbury version of the Matrix, with lower budget special effects. Everyone has become a tv watching stupefied stymied society, who go about their bland and pointless existence, until a couple of cracks appear. The message is: you can't be a reader, you have to be like everybody else [miserable, but ignorant of being so]. With a quiet riptide reliance on pills to help, or prevent, twat-like-people from thinking or feeling.
Now, for someone like myself who loves the aesthetic physicality of books equally as much as their content. This is a horror film. Books are thrown and strewn and burned. Awful seeing the titles of what was being destroyed by the mawing flames.
I happen to have a copy of Dante's Inferno from the 1800's and have other antique books despite having read the Penguin paperback versions first. When I see their poor sad orphaned selves, I feel the irrational imperative to save them - literally keep them safe so as to not be lost or destroyed in my lifetime. Someone before me had this in their library - which time has dismantled - it needs a home.
Books are intangibles made tangible. They are a voice in their own right, and come to life the second you or I pick one up and open it up - despite however long silent and shut, it begins to speak as eloquent as the day it was penned.
Tell me that's not magic.
Getting back to Ray Bradbury's movie - Fahrenheit 451 (the temperature book pages ignite at), the message is: it's wrong to be in possession of a book, let alone be an active reader - you have to do as you're told through the dictatorship medium of television and state controlled "news" or spoon fed information.
In the end....not to give it all away, as it is a nifty psychedelic journey, there are people who commit entire books to memory so as to never lose the art of history and literature, and the selfless souls who originally penned them.
And what selfless, penniless, sentient souls who sit down throughout our entire collective histories, in each and every country, who refused to remain silent, and left so much for millions of people to come centuries later to discover their wit, words, insight and wisdom.
All of whom we are indebted. And because of their act of love we, you and I, are better for it.
I can think of no greater gift to give, or leave people of this world to discover.
Great words, not unlike great paintings, and great symphonies....
....without them, the world's heart, and desire to live, would have perished long ago.

A Whale of Creative Courage Necessary
Musicians, writers/poets, artists, comedians, historians, photographers, playwrights, directors and journalists are the only individuals at the fore front of social change.
They, are who got us out of the Dark Ages, and into the Renaissance.
ok...technically, there weren't "photographers" back then...they were painters.
These are the men and women who educated, enlightened, advanced, and encouraged society.
To this day, we unconsciously look to them, in our similar need to be reawakening, in an
under-the-wire imparting of truth.
Oprah ain't it. thankyouverymuch
We only want to deal in the real.
Authentic creative thinkers and speakers need only apply thank you.
We're needing a no-holds-barred-cause-we're-all-gonna-die-anyway-so-why-not-just-say-it-like-it-is-so-as-to-snap-us-collectively-out-of-our-lobotomized-state-of-false-sense-of-empty-pleasure please.
Historians are key...they tend to know and remember, not only that which current governments and systems don't want in school books. Like...oooh I dunno context, and things like revealing and unflattering [unconsionable] political and soci-economic ramifications.
Historians tend to posses a compassionate capacity to want to impart something called non-partisan accountability, and convey real history, not what is edited 49 times before becoming the 'required reading' of the bias cirriculum, as approved by an equally brought-up-bias-populus.
We are needing encouragement. We are needing to know we aren't alone. We are wanting rage to be put back in our hearts. Courage.
Cause somewhere along the way we've become tapioca turds.
We are needing leaders who can not only stand up and show us, the big picture that which we have been rendered unable to hear, learn, know or see. But we needing these authenic humanists leaders to use their unique and astonishing skills and innate creative timing, to manoeuvre us pithy-plankton-people who are collectively and already unwittingly in the dark jaws of a hungry whale, and get us to send the whale into a convulsion that spews us through it's blow hole and back into the free bright world for us to live it less gullably.
They, are who got us out of the Dark Ages, and into the Renaissance.
ok...technically, there weren't "photographers" back then...they were painters.
