Our Digressing Evolution

If human nature created the mechanistic dinosaur of
senseless death and destruction which we've been born into
over at least 14,000 years -and likely longer...

then...surely it will be human nature, that will figure our way out of the corner in which we have proverbially painted ourselves into.

Even before we invented paint.

This morning, the Executive Director of War Child was interviewed on CIUT.FM in Toronto.

You can't not like what she established and strives to achieve. It's so essential.

And you can't not cheer anyone on who take on the task of pushing that proverbial pea up Kilimanjaro ....on a windy day.

But I couldn't help think, for all the phenomenal work, that being done on the ground, in the most active war torn countries on earth....the main thought going through my mind listening to her talk about the talk she was holding at the Hart House this evening was - but what is being done about the mechanism in which our entire all encompassing earth and all it's contents and residents are forced to comply to?

Not unlike that steer, and cows that were free for a few minutes last week, though is use the word free rather loosely here, because: WE ARE THEM.

Where on earrrrrrrrth could a steer and cows "go", from their over turned truck on a highway in this city? in this country? in any city? in any country? Not a single place on earth. There is no such thing as freedom for anything on this earth, at this point, in our existence, at this time.

What will stop the unrelenting and unnecessary warring people. People pitted against one another by goaders, by someone who stands to make money by stirring everything up.

How has THIS become our predominant approach to this world.

ok - I can already hear the retaliatory response of: but conflict/death is everywhere in the wild kingdom.

um....technically, yes, but what about stopping to think for a mo'? And not do what some negative force or individual or whatever wants.

Why didn't clever defiance become our approach in life? The path of least resistance maintained by loafers lining the widening path to let more saunter casually through.

Scientists are noticing and discovering elephants are behaving not unlike the hurt and damaged children War Child has tried to care for and rehabilitate - to the admission, often times it just can't be done. Or the bridge or connection just can't be made - the severity and reality of their experience or what they witnessed was just too much to bear.

This indeed can and does happen.

But we should never have reached this point where we just say 'that's life'

Because this is no way to live.

Scientists are also discovering, species that have been harmonious and cooperative have 'just recently' begun to behave badly - such as dolphins, elephants and ants.

The obtuse point is...just because we might not know or remember another way of living, even if there never was a better way of living prior, that does not mean we never-ever-have-to-even-bother-to-consider-trying-to-achieve-something-better...

It just means we are digressing in our evolution.
