Wanton Wastenaut

I couldn't believe my eyes, nor hold my breath this afternoon.....*gasp*

good lord I had to...HAD TO !!! go to the Toronto dump down by Commissioners Street & Lakeshore today.

don't ask.

eeeeeghads today was a badly written scene out of a sci-fi freakin' movie

Frightening how stalinisitic, how holocaustic, how mechanistic, how archaic the whole set up still is.

STILL IS !?!?!

This is, purportedly, by all calendar's, the year is 2008 ...is it not!?

Good Lord

There was zero semblance of ....ehm...what's that fancy new fandangled term called..."recycling"
going on ANYWHERE !!! ?!??!!

Now.....I read by all November 2007 accounts:

"Recycling not only saves money, it helps saves electricity via energy savings
75% less energy and 50% less water is used to make paper from recycled paper versus raw wood fibre.
Recycling one tonne of old newspapers saves 19 trees (Toronto typically recycles 100,000 tonnes of newspapers annually giving more than two million trees a tomorrow).
30% less energy is used to make glass from recycled crushed glass (cullet) versus new resources.
A 74% energy reduction is achieved by reusing steel cans and every tonne of recycled steel cans saves 1.36 tonnes of iron ore.
When scrap iron is used instead of iron ore to make steel, mining wastes are reduced by 97%, air pollution effluents by 80% and water pollution by 76%.
A 33% energy reduction is seen when new products are made from recyclable plastics.
95% less energy is used to make new aluminum cans out of old ones. Recycling just one pop can saves enough energy to power a television for three hours. Throwing away a single aluminum can is like pouring out six ounces of gasoline".

Do you know what that tells me?!!? ....probably not, which is a good thing, as I tend to see things a we bitty differently.

The only reason any semblance of a non-committal recycling program appears to be in existence is:

someone is saving money.

But it ain't us tax payers, I will say that much.

My point....ehm...let's see....do I even have one?

No. Not really.

Recycling: Just like Communism.... theory...not actually widely comprehended or practised, so don't get romantic about it. Ya gotta know, fully comprehend in a knee hugging rocking back and forward kind of deep comprehension that -all the nice fluffy shiny stuff we're presented and told "somethings done about that"....well....

...it isn't.

Amoral of today's story:

There has, and will always be, some sordid, selfish, self serving reason / person / party behind pretty much everything you imagine, perceive or deem to believe making money off the so called 'right' decision that is going for the day.

Just know them's the facts - that's all I'm saying.

But, wholly wholly-waste-mis-management-for-pure-unadulterated-let's-put-the-mental-in-environmental-total-disregard- there-ain't-nothing-goin-on-here-but-sheer-horrors-of-horrors-just-for-the-old-fashioned-fun-of-it-stuff-kind-of-waste batman.

I really shouldn't get out more.
